Friends of Rensselaer Rowing

Greetings from Friends of Rensselaer Rowing

Welcome to www.forr.org, the home of
Friends of Rensselaer Rowing

FORR was formed to provide material, financial and moral support for men's and women's crew at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is comprised of rowing alumni, alumni with an interest in the sport, and past and present Rensselaer Rowing parents.

You can share in the joy and excitement of taking RPI Crew to the next level by becoming an active member of FORR and coming out to cheer on Crew at races across the Northeast and by giving generously to RPI Crew for the equipment and services that will be needed to make Crew competitive with other ECAC schools and ultimately make Crew a varsity sport at RPI.

With the demands placed on them by their studies and continually increasing the competitiveness of RPI Crew, the added burden of fundraising needs to be removed from the shoulders of the athletes. By creating a strong and active alumni support organization, we can provide for the needs of Crew that their Union budget does not satisfy. Our hope is that we will be able to pave a path for today's rowers to follow in our footsteps.

Over the past couple of years, the interest in Crew among the students has far exceeded the ability of Crew's equipment to accommodate them. This year, our athletes desperately need boats. While there is a need for one or two new boats, the greatest demand is for numerous well maintained used eights to accommodate the novice crew. We also need launches to accommodate the rapidly expanding coaching staff and maintain a safe and effective coach to rower ratio on the water.

Sincerely,

Steve Reilly '92,'93 President
